MENTAL HEALTH DURING THE PANDEMIC

Talking about mental health and depression indicates, a person is mentally ill or challenged according to the present scenario. The current generation has made depression a trend. Having mood swings, fighting, sleepless nights, and nervousness is not what a psychologist would say depression is. Mental health embraces our psychological, emotional, and social well-being. It affects our way of thinking, how we feel and act.

Symptoms of mental health:

  • Low or zero energy
  • Lack of sleep and or loss of appetite
  • Unusual bellicosity
  • Enigmatic pain or ache

The lockdown would have monetary implications too. It would influence wage workers and those that have organizations and foundations that earn a daily profit. The more extended the span of lockdown will be, the more financial burden would be. This connection coordinates a bolt toward intensified encounters of sorrow, anxiousness, vulnerability about the future, and the day ahead that would cause alarm and further tension coming because of financial weakness.

Approximately 20% of youngsters said that they have been suffering from depression because of lockdown. Factors like delay in the completion of studies, fewer job opportunities, lack of privacy, family pressure, and being away from friends are the key reasons. Some reports say that women are facing “Double affliction.” 51% of girls reported an increase in the stress of the household in comparison to boys. Boys, on the other hand, showed an increase of 23%. Married women reported an increase in domestic violence as families are staying at home due to COVID-19.

Dread and stress are some reactions to genuine dangers. When we are encountering tension with regards to a contagious virus, so it is normal to get worried about it. In Addition to the stress of getting an infection in this pandemic. For example, COVID-19 has made noteworthy changes to our daily lives as our development is confined now. The new normal is not allowing us to boost mentally and physically.

Mental health awareness month is in May, focused on and improving your mental health is significant for the whole year. Remember that every individual should think and talk about mental health and what it implies for them without feeling ashamed. Regardless of whether you do not experience the ill effect of gloom, nervousness, emotional wellness is as crucial as your physical health. These two influence each other to a considerable degree.
