In a town where my grasp of English was not very strong, my story takes shape highlighting my journey to overcome the language barrier. I always wanted to work for my ideal firm, Amazon, as a successful brand manager. However, I continuously faced two major obstacles that prevented me from moving forward: a lack of communication skills and ongoing health issues. Since I was young I have been captivated by the world of marketing and brand management. The idea of creating brand identities and successful marketing campaigns has always fascinated me. However, there were two drawbacks that I struggled with communication and health. Words didn’t flow easily for me often stumbling over sentences at moments. To make things more challenging health problems cast a shadow over my path. Frequent hospital visits made pursuing my dream feel like a big battle. Yet I never gave in to these obstacles. Despite facing these difficulties in expressing myself due to communication issues I always had thoughts to share and strong opinions that needed to be voiced.
There was a debate tournament organized when I was a college student, and fortunately, the topic was favorable to me. However, because of my communication abilities, I was unable to fully express the potential I possessed. I know it was never too late to learn something. After graduating, I also realized that people tend to criticize you if you don’t speak English well.
Whenever I gave a presentation in class to my teachers on a certain subject, I staggered through my slides with a trembling voice and sweaty fingers. I realized that overcoming my fear of public speaking was crucial to both my personal and professional development.
I joined the college’s exercise program after enrolling, and I soon realized the toll a sedentary lifestyle had taken on my health. I was breathless after doing simple workouts, so I realized it was time to prioritize my physical health and I took a nutrition class in college, which made me aware of my bad eating patterns. I had to reconsider my decisions after learning about the significance of balanced diets and their effect on general health taking part in a stress management.
I created a to-do list to handle these problems to make my aspirations come true because I realized something. It would be challenging for me to flourish at my job without these talents it included attending communication courses, rehearsing in front of a mirror, recording what I said, and spending at least 30 minutes reading the newspaper. Additionally, I created a nutrition plan for my health that includes more fruits and less junk food, as well as a 45-minute workout at work and twice-weekly meditation.
The changes that I noticed in myself as a result of completing this to-do list surprised me. For example, I no longer have to mentally construct sentences before speaking, which was the best change that emerged in me because it allowed me to converse with my friends without pausing.
In addition, my health has improved since I started working out. My meditation is going well, and I feel quite conscious afterward. Earlier, I used to have a horrible headache, but now it is better than it was. As I poured my heart and soul into improving my communication skills and becoming a healthier person, late evenings morphed into early mornings. And it appeared as though the goal of becoming a brand manager was being accomplished slowly but surely.
