Ready to hit the court? Volleyball is a unique, fast-pacing, and exciting sport with a devoted and number of fans all around the world. Let’s take a look at basic things about volleyball.
Volleyball is a team sport in which two teams of six players and are separated by the net in between. Each team tries to get points by grounding the ball on the other teams’ court under certain rules. Volleyball is played two ways first is when volleyball is played indoors and the other way is to play on the beach but there is a more major difference that in indoors there are 6 players in each team but in beach volleyball, there are two players aside and these both types of volleyball is recognized by the whole world. The highest governing body of volleyball is Fédération Internationale de Volleyball (FIVB).
The volleyball court is 9m x 18m with a 3m line parallel to the net and this 3m line is known as the attack line. This line is called the attack line because All of them either take a jump or attack from this line only. The top of the net is 2.43m. The rules of volleyball are a little bit more confusing than cricket but I can tell you that they are easy from basketball. I know this about these rules is because once in my school time I had to sit out for a week and had to just watch the players playing and the reason of me sitting because I was doing a lot of fouls and getting confused and I wasn’t allowed to take holiday even from the practice too. This event e was kind of embarrassing for me because everyone in the class knew that I loved playing volleyball but I must say that this was the time when I came to know watching volleyball is also great fun because you look at everyone very closely and can know what are the mistakes everyone is doing. If there is a volleyball match going on don’t expect me to be anywhere else because this is the in the world which I love to watch and if I get a chance to play volleyball then there isn’t even a process done in my mind it is a direct yes.
Benefits of Volleyball –
- Strengthens shoulders, thighs, and lower legs
- tone and strengthen the cardiovascular and respiratory systems.
- Circulates more blood
- Builds Teamwork
- Improves Communication
- Reduces Stress
There are many more benefits in volleyball because it really exhausts you but will always make you give more effort because when you win at the end then that happiness you get is the thing for which a person becomes competitive.
Volleyball can uplift your mood and can make you dedicated too. Let me give you an example, I was the person who was a hardcore cricket lover but in class 5 when I watched my seniors playing volleyball I genuinely thought that no cricket is a much better sport but my opinion changed when I played it for the first time and came to know this is more fun and after that day I started playing volleyball. I became so dedicated to it that I stopped playing cricket and used to play volley for about 4-5 hours per day and this resulted in me playing the state tournament in volleyball. That moment when I got the jersey of my name was a very precious moment for me but now let me tell you a little more about volleyball.
In volleyball, there are tricks and tactics too which are very beneficial in winning a game and to learn these tricks the main thing is the coordination between the players because the time which you get to use the tactics is very less and if there is no co-ordination between players then it is very difficult to use the tactics. Like there are different formations like 4-2, 5-1, etc. The different players are-
- Setter- The person who sets the ball for the attackers and he is the one who runs the game and should know all the strategies.
- Libero- He is the person who is the best defender in the whole team and he is the person on which the whole team depends on defending the attacks from the opposite team.
Middle Blocker- They are the
- players that can perform very fast attacks that usually take place near the setter.
- Outside Hitters or left side hitters- They are the players who attack from near the left antenna.
- Opposite side hitters or right side hitters- They carry the defensive workload for a volleyball team in the front row and even attack from the right side too.
I would tell everyone that they should play volleyball once in their life because you will love it and once you play it then you will love watching volleyball too. You can even play on the beach as in goa a lot of people play volleyball too.
